Encino Park

These two courts are good if you want to take group lessons or if you pack a pickleball paddle in your tennis bag. The overwhelmingly overlapping pickleball lines induce line vertigo for me, but that is easily enough handled by calling in any shot that looks close. My new tennis friend Cezhan and I had plenty of fun hitting together and were grateful to the pickleballers for sharing the court with us. That was nice!

These courts are fine so long as you maintain an attitude of gratitude while keeping in mind that Balboa Tennis Center and its 16 courts are a mile away if you want objectively better courts and can pay to play. The best thing about the Encino Park courts are the surrounding oak trees and how cheerfully they remind you that “Encino” means oak in Spanish.

  1. Other than the line vertigo on Court 2, overall a pleasant environment for a casual hit. Nice hitting with you Mark and sharing the courts where I grew up playing!
