A one-court, unlighted hidden gem surrounded by tall trees. The court is raised on a platform in the middle of the parking lot.
On the south side, you face the Angeles National Forest beyond a looming retaining wall, sloping down on the sidelines to the net. On that side, you feel like you’re playing on a giant handball court.
On the north side, you get a panoramic view of the Crescenta Highlands. Here, you feel whatever you want to feel. I felt fortunate indeed to be taking in such a grand, sweeping view.
On a personal note, I was surprised to realize this court is adjacent to the baseball field where I used to play at the end of my Sunday League baseball career. I didn’t think I’d ever be back, but here I was having a jolly time with my friend Timothy. He was having himself a day, hitting winners off what I kept thinking had been pretty darn good shots. You just gotta tip your hat when your opponent is playing like that. It’s good for the sport.
