Plummer Park, West Hollywood

With seven lighted tennis courts in a lively and lovely neighborhood park, Plummer Park is both a gem and a hub for local tennis. The courts are usually NOT FREE and reservations are required, although there are some courts reserved for open play.

From my tennis diary

I figured I would just fool around long enough to see if the dream would come true of someone showing up to hit with me.

Being in LA for some days coming from Paris, I thought I could get the chance to play tennis. So I looked at how and where to play in West Hollywood area. I first came across Mike’s article in the LA times online about his “quest to play at every L.A. tennis court” and this was the ideal content I was looking for to make my “quest to play tennis in LA” possible. Then I got directed to Mike’s website for more tennis locations in WeHo area.
Now on Plummer park : tennis there is great and it feels it’s like a tennis club thanks to the many courts and the little “club” house held by Tennacity. Coming from France and not knowing anyone to play tennis with I booked a Tennacity live ball session on Thursday evening. New to me this live ball game is really fun and it’s the best way to make several tennis friends in just one session ! Special thanks to coach Fabiano !
The courts are fine, super clean and all lit. There is a tennis wall also which is to me very important to self train. Thanks to it I also met with Bora who was hitting. He proposed to play together on a just available court before the Tennacity live ball sessions started an hour later on 3 courts. This is also something I liked at Plummer : the (unformal ?) rule is everyone plays with everyone, Bora told me. Fun together first !
I really enjoyed this evening at Plummer : very tennis-oriented park, great folks who all welcomed me. Just perfect for a first time tennis hit in LA !
